A committee formed by the home ministry to investigate the death of writer Mushtaq Ahmed has said that his death was natural.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman khan Kamal said this to journalists at the Secretariat on Thursday.

The minister said Mushtaq Ahmed died of natural causes as per the reports of the investigation committees of the home ministry, Gazipur DC, and jail authority.

Earlier on February 27, the Ministry of Home Affairs formed a five-member committee to look into whether the prison authorities had any negligence in the treatment of Mushtaq.

The writer, arrested in May last year in a case filed under Digital Security Act, passed away at Kashimpur High-Security Prison, Gazipur on Thursday.
