Bangladesh will get 1 crore 9 lakh 8 thousand vaccines from Covaxs before next June. A plan to provide free vaccines around the world under Covaxs was unveiled on Tuesday.

According to the plan, Bangladesh is the 4th country to receive the most vaccines before June. Other countries are Nigeria, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Brazil.

By the end of next May, 238.2 million doses of the vaccine will be provided in 142 countries around the world.

Covax is a global initiative led by the World Health Organization (WHO) to provide free vaccines to poor and middle-income countries to prevent coronavirus. Ghana is the first African country to receive the vaccine. 198 countries have participated in the Kovacs program.

However, not all countries are covered by the first round of vaccinations.

Poor countries lag far behind the rich in Covid-19 vaccination. The head of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Gebreasus, criticized the world’s rich countries last Monday for storing vaccines.

"We want to protect all the miserable people in the world," he said.
