The court today has set February 18 by deferring the submission of the probe report in a case filed against six people including Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) former vice-president (VP) Nurul Haque Nur on the charges of rape, abetment in rape and offenses under the Digital Security Act.

The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nevana Khair Jessie set the new date on Thursday.

Although today (Thursday, January 28) was set for the submission of the investigation report in the case, the investigation officer of the case, Police Inspector (Unarmed) Md. Wahiduzzaman, could not submit the report. Therefore, the court set a new date for the submission of the report.

On September 20, a case was filed against Nurul Haque Nur at Lalbagh Police Station for allegedly collaborating in rape.

On September 22, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Mahmuda Akhter accepted the statement of the case and directed Kotwali Police Station Inspector (Unarmed) Nur Alam to investigate the case and submit a report.

According to the case statement, the incident took place at Sadarghat Hotel and Restaurant in the Kotwali police station area. The time of the incident has been mentioned in the case from 7:40 pm to 8:30 pm on February 9, 2020.

Hasan Al Mamun, the convener of the Bangladesh Student Rights Council, was made the main accused in the case.

The other accused are – Saiful, Nazmul, Hasan Al Mamun, suspended convener of Bangladesh Sadharan Chhatra Odhikar Sangrakkhan Parishad Nazmul Hasan Sohag, joint convener and DU student Abdullah Hil Baki.

Meanwhile, in another case of Lalbagh police station, the court granted remand to the three arrested on December 3 for two days. After remand, they were sent to jail on December 7. The three accused are currently in jail.
