A fire broke out at Barmi Bazar High School in Sreepur of Gazipur on Saturday, for the second time in one and half months.
The fire burned down all the furniture in the three rooms of the school to ashes and caused a loss of around Tk15 lakh to the school, said Headteahcer Abdul Bari Tareq.
Tareq said three of the rooms on the northeast side of the school caught fire at midnight on Saturday.
The school security guard Ripon called and informed about the fire. Firefighters from the Mauna Fire Station came to the spot around 3:15am and brought the fire under control.
Iftekhar Raihan, station officer of Mauna Fire Service, said two units of the fire service tried to control the fire but the fire burned all the furniture in the three rooms.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
A fire previously broke out in three rooms on the east side of the school on December 11 causing losses of Tk20 lakh.
The headteacher said that after Saturday night’s incident, they suspect the incidents to be arson, “aimed to create a rift among the locals.” Dhaka Tribune
