Tensions between the United States and China have been running high during the past few years over issues including the coronavirus epidemic and trade wars. The rift between Washington and Beijing over the Taiwan and South China Sea issues is growing beside.
In this context, Chinese President Xi Jinping visited an army base in Chaozhou city of Guangdong on Tuesday. At that time, he instructed the army members to be prepared for war and urged them to become extremely loyal, extremely patriotic and extremely credible.
In a sharp response to the US plan, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian called for the immediate cancellation of the arms sale plan to Taiwan. He called on Washington to sever military ties with Taiwan.
