The University Grants Commission (UGC) will organize an international conference on the fourth industrial revolution from December 10.

The two-day international conference titled "Fourth Industrial Revolution and Beyond" will begin at Bangabandhu International Conference center in the capital.

The conference intends to mark the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu SheikhMujibur Rahman and the golden jubilee of the country.

President M Abdul Hamid is expected to address the inaugural ceremony virtually as the chief guest while Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to address the closing ceremony virtually on December 11.

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni, Deputy Minister for Education Mahbibul Hasan Chowdhury and Secretary of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education Md Mahbub Hossain will address the program as the guests of honor, with UGC Chairman Prof Dr Kazi Shahidullah in the chair.

Three Nobel laureates -- Oliver Hart, Konstantin Novoselov, Takaaki Kajita -- along with researchers, academicians and technologists including seven scientists will take part in the conference. A total of six keynote papers will be presented at the conference while 100 research papers will be presented in 21 technical sessions, said a press release.

Multiple trilateral agreements will be signed among different industries, UGC and universities to conduct joint collaborative activities.

A network of communication between national and international level academics and researchers would be created through this conference, the UGC hopes.

Besides, "Mujib Centennial Idea Competition-2021" and "Mujib Borsho Art Exhibition-2021" will also be organized to spread the local innovations.
