All animals play a key role in environmental protection and human wellness. Some animals help us to bring out the nutrients from the cycle, while some animals help in decomposition, carbon, and nitrogen cycle. All animals and plants in the ecosystem co-exist and balance each other without taking the ecological balance off. Thus, to raise awareness about improving the welfare standards of the animals across the globe World Animal Day is celebrated annually. Today is 4th October, World Animal Day today. Every year this day is celebrated for the rights and welfare of all the animals around the world.
The day is celebrated differently in different countries irrespective of race, religion, or political ideology. Build the world through greater public awareness and education where animals are considered a sensitive species and their well-being is given due attention.
World Animal Welfare Day is observed on October 4th across the world every year. The international day is very significant in terms of caring, protecting, and spreading awareness through the support and involvement of individuals, groups and organizations that care for and love animals. This is the reason it is also known as "Animal Lovers Day".
Henrik Zimmermann, a German writer and publisher, first published the idea for World Animal Day in a magazine called Mens und Hund / Man and Dog. He celebrated this day on March 24, 1925, at the Berlin Sports Palace in Germany. More than 5,000 people attended the event.
This day was originally to be celebrated on October 4, in conjunction with the feast of St. Francis of St. ACC, the saint of ecology. But due to space constraints at that time, the day was not observed on this day. This day was first observed on October 4, 1929. At first he only got followers from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Czechoslovakia on this day.
Zimmerman has worked tirelessly every year to popularize World Animal Day. Finally, in a resolution he raised at the International Congress for the Protection of Animals in Florence, Italy in 1931, October 4 was recognized as World Animal Day.
According to some sources, World Animal Day was introduced in 1931 at a conference of ecologists in Florence, Italy to make endangered species visible to all.
