Sumit`s debut feature film “Nonajoler Kabbo,” drops teaser
Director Rezwan Shahriar Sumit dropped the first teaser for his debut feature film “Nonajoler Kabbo,” which premiered at the 64th BFI London Film Festival as one of the 50 films officially selected for last year’s highly competitive slate.
A Bangladesh-France coproduction, supported by acclaimed director Spike Lee, Nonajoler Kabbo stars veteran actor Fazlur Rahman Babu, Tasnova Tamanna (Live From Dhaka), Titas Zia (Mrittika Maya) among others.
A clash-of-cultures tale set in a remote coastal village of Bangladesh, the National grant-winning film shines a unique light on love and resilience.
"When a city-raised sculptor visits a remote fishing village on the Bangladeshi Delta, he finds himself embroiled in a primal, elemental conflict between land and sea, man and nature, past and future.," reads the official synopsis.
Prominent musician Shayan Chowdhury Arnob composed the music for “Nonajoler Kabbo.”
In a statement posted on Facebook, Sumit also informed fans that “Nonajoler Kabbo” is on its way to COP26 - United Nations Climate Change Conference.
“I've always believed that Nonajoler Kabbo represents something much greater than just entertainment. I've made a concerted effort to broaden the scope of its impact. I'm delighted the organizers of COP26 saw its potential,” he said.
“I firmly believe that narrative films with an insider point of view can help create true empathy for climate frontlines. And believe me when I say they require our immediate attention. I'll shortly offer some bleak updates from the locations where I shot Nonajoler Kabbo,” he continued. The impacts of climate change on our coasts are just too large and complex, and I'm frustrated by how limited my personal capacity for finding solutions is. That is why I am looking forward to engaging in discussions with the UN delegates, policymakers, youths, in the hopes of inspiring one another.”
