Handicrafts export boosts by 51 pc

In the first three months of the current financial year, the revenue from handicraft exports has increased by 51.23 percent as compared to the same period of the previous financial year.
There is a huge demand for this product in the local market as well. According to the latest figures from the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), handicrafts worth $8 million were exported in the last three months from July to September which is Tk 680 million in domestic currency.
It is learned that Bangladeshi exporters export handicrafts to more than 50 countries. Generally, Bangladesh exports jute products, various types of baskets made of bamboo and cane, floor covering mats or carpets, nakshi kantha and nakshi bedsheets and some recycled products.
Our country's handicrafts awe well accepted in North America, Europe and the Middle East.
