Cheat’s waffle churros with cappuccino custard recipe

1 tbsp instant coffee granules
1 tbsp coffee liqueur (optional)
250ml (1 cup) vanilla custard
4 large bought Belgian-style waffles
40g butter, melted
Cinnamon sugar, to sprinkle
- Step 1
Combine the coffee granules
and 1 tbs water in a small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds or until hot. Stir until coffee dissolves. Stir in the liqueur, if using. Pour in the custard and whisk until well combined.
- Step 2
Toast waffles for 1-2 minutes or until crisp and golden. Brush 1 side of each waffle with melted butter then sprinkle generously with cinnamon sugar. Cut into long fingers. Serve with the coffee custard for dipping.
