On the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway on Wednesday morning, hundreds of commuters and vehicles got stuck in a 25-kilometer long tailback and were stuck there for hours.
The tailback was caused by the large number of devotees who had gathered in Narayanganj's Langalbandh area to participate in Langalbandh Snan, also known as the "Mohashtamir Snan Utshob," one of the largest Hindu festivals, which attracted women, children, and elderly people from both home and abroad.
Officer-in-Charge of the Kanchpur Highway Police Station, Mohammad Ibrahim, claimed that the prolonged traffic jam was brought on by the heavy load of vehicles transporting pilgrims to Langalbandh Snan.
He claimed that the district and highway police were working to relieve the gridlock.
